St. Peter and Paul Cathedral – Catholic Destination Wedding Cathedral in the Virgin Islands

Located in the historic district of downtown Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas, stands St. Peter and Paul Catholic Cathedral.

The island influences in the church architecture make it a lovely location to host your Catholic destination wedding ceremony.  The first Catholic Church was consecrated by the Danish Crown in 1806.  In 1828, the first church was built on the current location.  After its destruction in 1837, a new church was built in 1848 and still stands today.

The church is simple, yet beautiful.  On the ceiling, 12 murals are painting which depict important scenes from both the Old and New Testament.

A little preparation is involved if you wish to have a Catholic wedding in the Virgin Islands.  To begin the process, it is suggested you begin approximately six months prior to the date of your wedding.

St. Peter and Paul, a member of the Catholic Diocese of St. Thomas, has the same requirements and regulations as any other Catholic diocese.  So you will begin the process in your home diocese with your parish priest.

All of your completed documents will have to be forwarded to the Diocese of St. Thomas.

In addition to the church documents required, you must still complete the Virgin Islands Marriage Application.

The church fee is $600 and an additional $100 for an organist to perform at your wedding.

Weddings are only held Monday through Saturday.
